Sublime vs. Sublative

  |   blog

What is Sublime, and Sublative and what are they used for?

Sublime and Sublative, they both have similar names, but are they similar in nature? Aging is an inevitable fact of life, and whether or not you feel as though you are showing signs of aging on your skin, something that is bound to happen is the loss of laxity and collagen in our skin. With the advancement in laser technology, and how much better we understand aging, we are able to combat fine lines, wrinkles and other imperfections on our skin.

We are here to give you the rundown as to what Sublime Skin Tightening and Sublative Skin resurfacing treatments are.

But first, what device is used to perform both of these treatments?

Elos Plus

The el?s Plus® device is a revolutionary device in medical aesthetics. It combines optical (laser or pulsed light) and radio frequency (RF) energies to deliver comfortable treatments. The el?s Plus device is the only system to provide unique, three-layered skin protection. RF reduces optical energy requirements to moderate skin heating and allow deeper penetration of heat, and Active Dermal Monitoring (ADM) immediately signals skin impedance changes

Sapphire contact cooling improves client comfort, and can perform “lunchtime procedures”.

Elos Plus is able to treat the following skin issues:

  • Benign vascular lesions
  • Telangiectasia
  • Rosacea
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Lentigines
  • Freckles
  • Poikiloderma
  • Sunspots
  • Age spots
  • Non-invasive wrinkle treatment
  • Skin resurfacing
  • Facial wrinkles
  • Hair removal
  • Acne vulgaris

What is Collagen?

Collagen can be described as the main ingredient or protein that holds our body together. Collagen is found in the skin, bones, muscles, and tendons, and after the age of 25, new collagen fibres stop producing in our bodies. Contrary to popular belief, we have a tonne of collagen in our bodies. About 25 percent to 35 percent of the protein in our bodies is made up of collagen, making it the most abundant protein in our bodies. It is the main ingredient of connective tissue found in our skin, which is why it is termed as holding everything together or keeping everything tight. Although many people may think that collagen completely leaves our bodies after a certain age, this is not the case. Collagen is still in our skin, muscles, and tendons, but after time they get worn out and no new fibres are being produced. Sometimes, we just need a little bit of encouragement for our collagen fibres to bring out the youthfulness in our skin.

Sublime Skin Tightening

Sublime Skin Tightening combines both bi-polar RF energy and deep infrared heat to target the dermis layer of the skin, and the controlled deep dermal heating shortens aged collagen fibres and leads to the production of new collagen fibres. This helps reduce the look of wrinkles, fine lines, and improves the look of skin laxity and texture.

Sublime Skin Tightening can be used on other parts of the body, the face and neck are most commonly treated with the Elos Plus device. The head of the machine carefully glides over the skin and releases heat, and each session is approximately 20 minutes. The procedure is pain-free, non-invasive, and clients are able to return to regularly scheduled activities immediately after treatment.

Sublative Skin Resurfacing

Sublative Skin Resurfacing is a non-invasive skin treatment that works to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production which in turn reveals smoother and more youthful-looking skin. For Sublative Skin Resurfacing, the Elos Plus device uses fractionated bi-polar radio frequency (RF), which reaches deep into the dermis and encourages the production of collagen and elastin. This procedure ensures that skin is resurfacing itself from the inside out. Using electrode pins, the energy is sent deep into the layers via these pins creating a grid-like pattern onto the skin. The energy is then delivered deep into the cells to induce wound healing, in turn inducing collagen production. Sublative skin resurfacing is not painful and will ensure that clients can return to their normal activities after treatment.
